The nation's top diplomat stated that the nation would maintain its foreign policy stance or its values in reaction to irresponsible comments. The Russian embassy in Rome later posted condolences for the death of a Romanian worker in the accident but took the opportunity to object that the negative feedback to the remarks was biased against Russia.
