The Journey of a Phenomenon is often defined by distinct phases.

1. The Big Idea

A charismatic leader or coaches introduce an innovative concept offering a panacea for alienated and vulnerable people.

And so it goes. Preparations are underway to confront the system in Australia. Tensions are rising. Smoke is rising from the sidelines. 2. The Honeymoon Phase

Team architects guarantee a fresh beginning, a brighter tomorrow, support, redemption within a community who all believe in the big idea.

What was this thing back then? Just men on a balcony feeling good. Body art. Forearms. Focus. Confident masculinity. Of course, England’s players often say it’s not a real term, amusingly because if it doesn’t exist, what was that spectacle?

But we know what it is. It’s Harry Brook executing a stroke so depraved it’s beyond belief. It’s the adrenaline of the leader in ultimate mode, a look that says: focused titan, rugged appearance, natural look, so authentically Modern Savage you half-expect to notice and see him playing on the ground bare-chested holding a fish.

It’s the opener continuing to have permission addressing the media, resembling a happy little woodland creature in a waistcoat, saying stuff like we are actively deconstructing the orange. And yes, the atmosphere, for a significant period, was entirely positive.

3. A New Life

Growth phase. Cohesion maintained via memorization of key phrases. These beliefs may seem irrational as a test of “true belief”.

The opinion suggests that England don’t just need to lose, they need to lose righteously, to be purged, flame-throwered, destroyed via traditional methods of the pace attack, the conventional tactics of the bowler, seen enjoying achievements with a bashful smile like he’s just been given a rewarding prize. What will this do to them?

4. The Backlash Phase

Challenges surface from failures in the plan. Yet, mistakes are denied. It begins to thrive on hatred of the outside world.

The fact remains, approaching the upcoming game, we have now reached a critical juncture in the journey of this thing. They might succeed in Brisbane with bold tactics. Probably, defeat could come swiftly. In case of defeat it seems we really might be entering the death cult phase.

Prior to that, a couple of points to note regarding this. In the past, at the start, of passion and hope, I wrote an article calling it a phenomenon. People were very angry, which was helpful since it’s clear a method to show something definitely isn’t a cult is if supporters respond with anger rejecting criticism of the beliefs.

What has happened recently are fascinating. Criticism of the approach is now the trend. Social media is furious, angry English pundits, pictures of upset supporters abroad missing out on play, like a room full of investors demanding recourse.

Conversely, exists the larger scene of the host’s complex more culturally hard-wired exasperation towards the unconventional visitors, stating, the methods you value and have honed as part of your identity from the opposition, it’s just a joke in the end old boy.

Focus on the moment. Confront risks. However much you change, you’re always basically in the same place.
